So, what does a 10 year reunion consist of? To be honest, I have no idea. But since it has been only 10 years, and many of us have seen each other relatively recently, I thought it would be a good idea to avoid the black tie sit-down affair (costing everyone $150 a head) and have something a little less formal. So, to make things as easy as possible and to prevent the reunion from falling apart (like what happened to the class of 1998 reunion), I propose the following:
When: Friday, November 27 (the Friday after Thanksgiving)
Where: At a bar (hopefully Casey's in Westhampton)
And that's it. That's the grand idea. I think it will work well and I'm looking forward to it. There are a few things that may be helpful to discuss:
- This option is not kid friendly. Is this a problem for anyone?
- We may need some volunteers to help with a number of tasks: people to gather information for an information book, a photographer at the reunion, a DJ (or someone with a stocked ipod), organizing old pictures for a website or slideshow, etc.
- If anyone has any other ideas other than Casey's for a place or what events could be planned for the evening, they would be welcome
And finally, while I was talking to Shira, she was talking about her college reunion and how several classes (one older and one younger) came in during the reunion. Since all of us hung out with some people that are older and some people that are younger, do we think it is appropriate to invite people from the class of 1998 and 2000 to our renuion? There is a poll on the right side of this post where you can vote on whether you think it is a good idea or not.
If you need to contact me or anyone else who will be involved in the reunion process, please email whbclassof99@gmail.com (and please be patient with the response, it may take some time).
Thats it. More posts to come. I look forward to seeing all of you.

The idea about having the reunion at a bar is great because formal affairs always seem long and dragged out. Besides, the environment is relaxed and friendly.

ReplyDeleteSound great bud, hope I can make it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like lots of fun. Who doesn't want to drink & have decent music? For the record, our class song was "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLachlin, not "My Heart Will Go On". It's just as sappy but had less radio play lol...
ReplyDeleteJust a thought but for people who aren't still living at home or in the area doing this in Nov sucks.
ReplyDeleteWhat about doing it in the summer? You'd probably get a lot more people to show up
I don't care when we do it but can we pick a different club/bar. Every time i come home Casey's seems to be the spot to see everyone anyways.... But don't get me wrong I am all about having it at a bar
ReplyDeleteI kind of think it would nice to have some of the old WHBHS faculty, or at least invite them. The really fun ones of course - if any are still in the area.
ReplyDeletewhat about doing a weekend event towards spring and doing a BBQ on the beach? then again with NY weather you never know we may be able to BBQ on the beach.
ReplyDeletei agree with the summer thing or fall, but middle of the holidays seems busy..., as well as it may be hard for some travelers to get there on a friday... maybe sat would be better.... faculty would definatly be fun,,,
ReplyDeleteWhat about John Scotts in the summer? Definitely stay in Westhampton though. Caseys is too big and has been done before. No Rock Hill. Justin Zorbo.
ReplyDeleteSo has anything been decided?.
